1977

Nikolaos Kofinas, having worked for 10 years in various construction companies, acquires the experience he needs to implement his innovative ideas at the time.

Anticipating the needs of the market for cheaper houses, which would be delivered to the customer faster and would be superior in quality than conventional constructions, he studies structural systems and materials.

Emphasizing wood, which he considers the best
ecological as well as construction solution, creates an Exchibition of prefabricated houses which are also the company’s current offices on Mesogeion Avenue of Agia Paraskevi, simultaneously establishing KOFINAS O.E.

1980

After the dynamic start of the company, the requirements for further organization and development bring Michalis Kofinas to the company, thus the events of the construction industry enter the foundations of the course of the Kofinas brothers.

Then begins the search for permanent partners, engineers and craftsmen to ensure a stable and upward trajectory. It is no coincidence that since 1980 many of the company’s executives have been working at KOFINAS O.E. until today, and they continue to share the same vision with us.

At the same time, the company is building the first factory in Markopoulos, which increases the production of prefabricated houses, but also mass-produces smaller houses, which are transported ready-made with cranes.

1985

The company KOFINAS O.E. responding to the increase in demands and with an emphasis on improving the services provided to the customer, it expands its exhibition in Agia Paraskevi, while also creating new ones in Markopoulou Avenue. It is worth noting that the new exhibitions also gave the customer the opportunity to choose individual materials that would include his home.

1993

Then comes the construction of houses that were transported with cranes, since now the company KOFINAS O.E. it provides a basis for the prefabricated houses which it builds on site on the plot.

Having already built thousands of homes, the company is not resting. The continuous research and search in the field of prefabricated houses, mainly through various exhibitions and engineers from abroad, constantly improve the quality of construction. The company now even chooses from abroad the best raw materials for the construction of houses.

In 1993, in order to prove its pioneering role in the field of pre-construction, it organized for the first time in Greek events an Exhibition of prefabricated houses held in the courtyard of the Zappeion mansion.

2000

From 2000, the new generation of the Kofinas family will assume key positions in the company (Kostas Kofinas: foreman, Pigi Kofinas: accounting, Eugenia Kofinas – architecture).

The thirst of the family and its partners for the evolution of the existing construction combined with specialized static studies and German engineers create the unique screw masonry system in Europe.

The company’s new factory in Markopoulo Mesogaias is being built for the production of innovative framing.
The modern factory with huge storage spaces is equipped with machines that robotically place the screw in all the construction parts of the wall.

2004

Prefab homes that were built on site on the plot are a thing of the past. Now the wall frame is transported ready to the site with proprietary cranes, since the company’s factory is further upgraded with machines that angle, press and test each wall individually.

However, the company is not only developing technically but also commercially. In 2004, it rebuilds its showrooms in Agia Paraskevi and Markopoulou Avenue and at the same time creates a sales network in Greece and abroad.

Now KOFINAS O.E. exports its masonry and its foremen-engineers are sent abroad at regular intervals for supervision and also for research of construction technologies.

2009

The unique building system of the company KOFINAS O.E. it is tested for its durability at the National Technical University of Athens, exceeding every physical limit of durability. The construction surprised experts and scientists who spoke publicly about the company’s quality and technology.
The company’s vast experience in wooden constructions and continuous technological research, mainly abroad, led the KOFINAS company to deal with wooden Finnish houses. The company now imports the best quality timber in Europe for the construction of Finnish log houses. To prove their quality to the customer, the company extends its exposure on Markopoulou Avenue by building Finnish houses.

2011

The company is undoubtedly the center of reference in the developments of prefabricated buildings. This is also the reason why engineers, students and technical schools visit the company’s exhibitions and constructions to study and learn constructions.

The Kofina brothers, despite their objective reputation in the construction market, are not complacent to continue the uphill climb. They attend the largest European exhibitions, such as BAU in Germany, emphasizing on the construction of larger buildings (commercial buildings, office buildings, etc.) and proceed to research modern construction solutions.

This technological progress is also verified by the new experimental research of the three-story KOFINAS construction. The experiment carried out in the technical office of the internationally Emeritus Professor of the National Technical University P. Karydis, confirmed the uniqueness of the construction and the name of our company.

2012

The further modernization of the company is achieved by the construction of a new office building for the company in Agia Paraskevi. At the same time, the company will present the new FlexyHome housing series. The Flexyhome series was created by the company with the aim of offering home buyers an economical solution, which, however, does not lag behind anything in technology and quality.

The FlexyHome series achieved the goal of keeping the cost down without any compromise in quality, as both standardization and massive production made it possible to scale the process, with the wall framing being packaged and leaving the company in pallets, ready for the final construction steps on location.

2014

Kofinas company is upgraded to S.A. At the same time, it creates a network of representatives in Greece and Cyprus, while for the first time the export of prefabricated houses abroad begins.

At the same time, its building system evolves technologically and qualitatively based on ecology and sustainable development. Both the wall framing of the structures and the roof are reinforced with ecological materials, ensuring optimal energy behavior. This optimal energy behavior will form the basis for the construction of certified passive buildings by Kofinas S.A.

2020

Once again, without pause, innovation emerges with the new factory of KOFINAS S.A., which has been operating since early 2020, housing the company’s vision for excellence. KOFINAS S.A. continues to create groundbreaking advancements that set new standards in the field of prefabricated houses. This state-of-the-art factory is located in the Industrial Area of Markopoulo.

KOFINAS S.A. consistently introduces new elements in home construction, recognized and “certified” both by hundreds of satisfied customers and by the National Technical University of Athens, where the company’s unique structural system has been rigorously tested for its durability, surpassing every natural limit of endurance.

To further enhance precision and quality, KOFINAS S.A. has integrated an advanced CNC production line into its new facility, ensuring zero errors in wall construction. With automation and meticulous control at every stage, the company achieves superior quality, speed, and consistency, setting new benchmarks in the prefabricated housing industry.

2022

In collaboration with the National Technical University of Athens in February 2022, the KOFINAS company tested again on a physical scale using a seismic simulator.

The 2022 experiment is a follow-up to the stability experiment conducted in November 2009, during which a single-story test house of the company entered the seismic simulator and withstood up to 1.5 g of acceleration while remaining intact.

That is why the KOFINAS company wanted to seal this result and go one step further.

So in 2022 he carried out a static experiment in the seismic simulator at NTUA in a three-story life-size test specimen by loading it to seismic stresses of 1G acceleration, which is equivalent to 9+ on the Richter scale, without damage.

2025

In 2025, KOFINAS S.A. entered a new strategic era with the establishment of a dedicated Export & International Markets Department (Export Manager Office). This department is tasked with systematically organizing and managing the company’s export activities across international markets, as well as building strong, long-term relationships with our global partners.

At the same time, KOFINAS has strengthened its global outreach through the kofinas.eu platform, which serves as a central hub for international exports. The site showcases the company’s product range, international certifications, and unique expertise in the field of prefabricated housing. Through this platform, international partners gain direct access to technical documentation, installation guidelines, certifications, and promotional material, ensuring a comprehensive and highly professional collaboration experience.

The standardization and mass production made it possible to ship the wall framing along with all insulating materials and casing, allowing for transport over long distances.

By combining a well-structured export strategy, a strong digital presence, and the renowned quality of its construction systems, KOFINAS continues to solidify its position in the European and global market, enhancing its competitiveness. The year 2025 marks a pivotal step in shaping the company’s strategic export profile.
